Value based healthcare: Do we allow cherry picking and lemon dropping? Or is this a way to implement evidence and evaluate the effect of implementation?

In this session I will explain the VBHC project on hip osteoarthritis we are running in a group of seven teaching hospitals in the Netherlands. We implemented the best available evidence on post operative restrictions. Did this result in more dislocations following THA? How will we sell this to insurance companies? Best results or Growth Mindset?

  • How is this setup?
  • What makes it a success?
  • What could take us to the next level of evidence implementation? Will routine outcome measurement result in cherry picking and lemon dropping?
  • Pay for performance? Or pay for improvement?
